He was known for developing the concept that freedom was a fundamental part of human nature, and for challenging the theories of Sigmund Freud. Fromm was an only child born to Orthodox Jewish parents in Frankfurt on March 23, 1900. He would later describe his childhood as highly neurotic. At the age of 14, Fromm was heavily influenced by the start of World War I and developed a strong interest in the behavior of groups. He began looking for answers to his questions in the writings of thinkers including Sigmund Freud and Karl Marx. He went on to study sociology at the University of Heidelberg, earning his doctorate in 1922 under the supervision of Alfred Weber. In 1924, he began studying psychoanalysis at the University of Frankfurt before moving to the Berlin Institute of Psychoanalysis. In 1926, he married Freida Reichmann, a woman ten years his senior who had once been Fromms own psychoanalyst. The marriage dissolved after four years. Fromms Career Throughout his life, Fromm maintained a busy career that included numerous teaching positions in addition to publishing a number of books and running his own clinical practice. Fromm helped found the Frankfurt Psychoanalytic Institute, where he lectured from 1929 to 1932. After the Nazis rose to power, the Institute was moved to Geneva, Switzerland and later to Columbia University in New York. After moving to the United States, Fromm taught at a number of schools including the New School for Social Research, Columbia, and Yale. Fromms criticisms of Sigmund Freuds theories began to put him at odds with other psychoanalysts, and in 1944 the New York Psychoanalytic Institute suspended him from supervising students. Fromm remarried in 1944, became a U.S. citizen and moved to Mexico in hopes of alleviating his second wifes illness. He began teaching at the National Autonomous University of Mexico in 1949 and continued to work there until he retired in 1965. After his wifes death in 1952, Fromm founded the Mexican Institute of Psychoanalysis and continued to serve as its director until 1976. He remarried again in 1953 and continued to teach in Mexico. He also taught at other schools including Michigan State University and New York University. Fromm moved from Mexico City to Muralto, Switzerland in 1974, where he lived until his death in 1980. Sigmund Freuds Theories in Psychology Contributions to Psychology Today, Erich Fromm is widely regarded as one of the most important psychoanalysts of the 20th century. While Freud had an early influence on him, Fromm later became part of a group known as the neo-Freudians which included Karen Horney and Carl Jung. Fromm was critical of many of Freuds ideas including the Oedipus complex, the life and death instincts, and the libido theory. Fromm believed that society and culture also played a significant role in individual human development. Manâs main task in life is to give birth to himself, to become what he potentially is. The most important product of his effort is his own personality. â" Man for Himself, 1947. Fromm had a major influence on humanistic psychology. He believed life was a contradiction since humans are both part of nature and separate from it. From this conflict arises basic existential needs including relatedness, creativity, rootedness, identity and a frame of orientation, according to Fromm. Of his own work, Fromm would later explain, I wanted to understand the laws that govern the life of the individual man, and the laws of society â" that is, of men in their social existence. I tried to see the lasting truth in Freuds concepts as against those assumptions which were in need of revision. I tried to do the same with Marxs theory, and finally, I tried to arrive at a synthesis which followed from the understanding and the criticism of both thinkers. Who Were the Neo-Freudians? Essay on Mass Medias Political Power - 967 Words
Mass Medias Political Power There are two main issues regarding media influence in politics 1. Does presentation and coverage affect voting behaviour and choices? 2. Do media have an impact on political struggle and decide nature of debates? Definitions of mass media Mass media are channels of communication through which messages flow, produced by a few for consumption by many people. As the messages go through the channels, they are distorted. When people receive mass-media messages, they have no opportunity for immediate feedback with the producers of the messages.( www.pbs.org) Specialist institutions such as books, magazines, adverts, newspapers, radio,â⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦Ã¢â¬ËTelevision has ceased to cover the campaign; it has become the campaign.ââ¬â¢(Harrop: 2001) One of the ways the mass media is politically influential is through deciding what to cover and what not to cover, through deciding what counts as newsworthy. This is essentially cutting a full dayââ¬â¢s news coverage of world events into a half hour show. News programs tend to focus on exceptional stories this leads coverage to be an unrepresentative sample of daily events. For example media will focus policy failure over success or scandal and corruption over stories of integrity. This is can help influence politics because it is directing attention away from ââ¬Ëlesser important viewsââ¬â¢. The important point of thought is who decides this is news worthy. This selection of news stories centres around elite groups, nations and prominent political parties which reinforce images of relationships between power and order in society also where the power lies and how it should be used. Theism vs Antheism Free Essays
Do you believe in God? God is a being that no one has ever been able to prove exists. When someone chooses to believe in God; that decision is based solely on their faith. It is a decision that someone decides in their heart, which is often based on experiences in their life; whether they are simply personal experiences or religious ones. We will write a custom essay sample on Theism vs Antheism or any similar topic only for you Order Now It is not a secret to anyone that God has never been be seen, heard, nor touched by any living human according to history and the present day. Though, the bible gives the personal testimonies of many righteous men of Godââ¬â¢s goodness and existence, how can one prove that to be true? According to Nils Ch. Raught (2007) ââ¬Å"If [an] argument from religious experiences is to be successful, we must focus our attention on those religious experiences that closely resemble ordinary perceptual experiencesâ⬠(p. 180). So, I will give you my personal account of Godââ¬â¢s goodness in my life and why I personally believe Theism makes a stronger case than Atheism. In January of 2005, my wife and I decided it was time to have another baby. Right after our decision, we found out that my wife was pregnant right away! We were so happy to be adding another addition to our family; our eldest daughter was already five at the time and we didnââ¬â¢t want to have our children too far apart. We were incredibly excited and made our announcement that Valentineââ¬â¢s day to all of our friends and family. Everything was going great until my wife went to one of a doctor appointment for her first trimester pre-natal serum screening tests. Basically, this testing will determine if the fetus has any chromosome problems that include Down syndrome. This test is optional, even though my wife was never told that during her visit. The visit went fine and the nurse told her that she would be contacted if the tests came back abnormal. Well, three days later my wife had a message on her phone from the nurse saying she needed to call about her blood results. My wife was a mess. She cried and said she knew something was wrong. After talking to the nurse my wifeââ¬â¢s fears were confirmed; the blood results had come back abnormal. This was an eye opening experience for my wife and I. We decided that if we were going to have a Down syndrome child that we wanted to prepare ahead of time, since we knew that they have special health care needs. We scheduled an Amniocentesis and had to wait two weeks to get that test done. They were the two longest weeks of our life. My wife was a nervous wreck and I was too. During this time, we spent a lot of time praying and just trusting that no matter what the outcome was; this is what was meant for our family. Not being mad at God was hard; even though I had never felt as close to him before in my life! Finally, the day came for the test and again we had to wait three days for the results. On the third day, we found out our baby was perfectly healthy and that we were having another little girl. Even though, in our situation, God blessed us; I know he let us go through this situation so we could grow closer to him. I could feel his presence in my life during that trying time. Not only did my wife give birth to a beautiful baby girl, she also had our daughter on her Motherââ¬â¢s birthday. This is very significant because her mother tragically died in a car accident in November, of 2003. My wife went into labor naturally and had our daughter on my mother-in-laws birthday! We truly felt like God was blessing us! We felt as though for trusting in God and being patient he was rewarding us. In conclusion, one must ask themselves; do I have a purpose in my life? Am I looking at the big picture here? After my body physically dies someday, is that it? Personally, I think not. When one adopts the Atheist point of view, that choice accepts there is ultimately no superior being and no life after physical death. According to Nils Ch. Rauhut (2007) ââ¬Å"[If] we conclude that God does not exist, we are faced with a different situation. While we are then free to dismiss most religious activities as nonsense, we consequently have to accept the idea that we are finite beings who live in a universe without ultimate meaning or purposeâ⬠(p. 173). I cannot accept that humans exist to live without any ultimate meaning or purpose; especially when we live on a planet that is so complex and beautiful. Can any scientist tell us how the Universe came into existence? Or, how old it is? There are creatures on Earth that are still being discovered today! Perhaps, one could look at the beauty in a sunrise or sunset. Perhaps, one could believe in God when they watch their new born babies eye lashes grow over the course of a week after theyââ¬â¢re born; it is truly amazing! God created all things with such imagination and carefulness-each living thing is amazingly unique and has a purpose on this Earth no matter how big or small that purpose may be. In my opinion, Atheism is a belief that doesnââ¬â¢t leave much to look forward to. Though, it may be hard to explain Godââ¬â¢s existence because he cannot be physically seen or heard, it shouldnââ¬â¢t be so hard to believe that the human race was created for purpose; one that exceeds this life on Earth. Political Correctness Essays (437 words) - Censorship, Connotation
Political Correctness Political Correctness Political correctness isn't always a positive thing. People that are older should have the right to a freedom of speech. They should be able to say words to express their emotions. They have a better judgment to know how and when to use curse words. Curse words are used everywhere. They are used on television, movies, and in the public. Why be political correct when you can't express something that you need to say to someone. The older a person is, the more mature they will become from more experiences they get in life. By being mature they have a better judgment on how to use the words that come out of their mouths. They know when to use curse words and when it's appropriate to use it. They use the words when they feel stonger on their about their feelings and thoughts towards something and they express it better by using profanity. They also use profanity when it is necessary and when they have to get their point across. The Constitution quotes that all people have their freedom of speech. With this amendment people don't need to be politically correct and not deny them to their freedom of speech. People have the right to either be politically correct or not to be politically correct. People also should have a choice on whether if they want to use curse words or not. They shouldn't have a limited vocabulary. It will be unconstitutional if we didn't let people say what they want and we should not withhold any kind of language from anyone. Profanity is found and heard in everyday life. It is used in speeches, television shows, movies, schools, and in almost all places. In schools kids start using profanity as early as in elementary school. Television shows such as ?Simpsons?, ?Beavis and Butthead?, ?South Park?, ?Melrose Place?, ?Beverly Hills 90210?, all profanity in them. If it is used in television shows then why can't people be able to also use it throughout everyday life. It is also used in all PG-13 and R rated movies. Political correctness shouldn't be a big issue and people that are older should have the right to express their feelings verbally in all possible ways. If we are restricted on what we say then are we also going to be restricted on other things. Will they start restricting us on our gestures, how we dress, and what we are thinking? If we are restricted on things then it inhibits our life style. Political is a standard that restricts the use of our mind and our speech. English Essays

10 Signs Itââ¬â¢s Time to Quit Your Job Letââ¬â¢s be honest: many of us arenââ¬â¢t in our dream jobs, for whatever reasons. And even if you are working in your ideal field, thereââ¬â¢s a good chance that the experience isnââ¬â¢t what you daydreamed it would be. Itââ¬â¢s important to know when it might be time to cut bait and start over in a new role. 1. You dread going to work in the morning. If you hit your snooze button 15 times or roll out of bed every morning frowning about what your day holds, this is a problem. Even the most chipper coworker in your office has less enthusiastic days, but if it becomes an everyday dread, this could impact your overall happiness and health.2. You canââ¬â¢t hide your disdain at work.If other people are noticing that you are cranky or unhappy, itââ¬â¢s not good. It could impact your relationship with your boss and be noted as a performance issue.3. You dislike your team.If you have issues working together with your immediate group on projects or their everyday habits are like nails on a chalkboard to you, the problem might not be them. It could be that you would fit in better somewhere else.4. You dislike your team leader. There are plenty of terrible bosses out there: mean, arrogant, and just plain incompetent. Itââ¬â¢s also possible that he or she is a great person, but you just canââ¬â¢t flourish under their style of management. If you find yourself rolling your eyes every time you get an email from this person, it could be time to leave.5. Your personal life is affected by your job.Feeling overworked and unhappy can drag down other parts of your life. This can show itself in a variety of ways: feeling short-tempered with family or friends, having issues with sleep, or feeling anxiety over things that may not seem work-related. If you find that your general feeling of well-being is lower because of your work activities, itââ¬â¢s better to err on the side of self-interest.6. Your health is affected by your job.Stress-related illnesses are very much a thing. Working too hard or experiencing consistent stress can make you more susceptible to colds, flu, or any number of illnesses just waiting for a gap in your immune system caused by poor self-care. Anxiety disorders and depression are also conditions that can be made worse by staying in a job that causes you consistent stress.à Few jobs are forever, but your health is always going to be with you.7. Company morale is low.Shared misery can be a rallying point for coworkers when things are rough, but it could be that everyone is unhappy because something is seriously wrong at the upper management level. Even if you feel loyal to your company, itââ¬â¢s important to keep an eye on how things are going in general and to decide whether any issues are likely to be resolved in the short term. If not, you are not obligated to stick around if there are other opportunities.8. You donââ¬â¢t see how this job will advance your career. If youââ¬â¢ve moved up as far as y ou can in your current role without major personnel or company changes, consider whether there would be better chances for advancement somewhere else. Be proactive, instead of waiting patiently for someone else to retire or quit.9. Youââ¬â¢re consistently bored at work.If you find yourself slacking or filling long hours between projects, it may be because youââ¬â¢re not being challenged enough by your job. Every job will have its boring moments, but overall it should be a role where the tasks make you feel engaged and productive. If thatââ¬â¢s not happening, this job likely isnââ¬â¢t the right fit for you.10. You feel undervalued. We all have moments where we grumble that we arenââ¬â¢t being paid enough to deal with this *bleep*, but if you feel like your job responsibilities have seriously outpaced your paycheck, itââ¬â¢s time to re-evaluate. Do some research into salary ranges and compensation for your role at other companies. If you still feel like you are being under-compensated (and thereââ¬â¢s no chance to negotiate more for yourself at your current place), itââ¬â¢s probably time to move on.

Ethics in Management Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1500 words
Ethics in Management - Essay Example Values which we believe guide us on how we should act and behave are said to be moral values, for example: respect, honesty, fairness, responsibility etc. if you put these values in Statements, they would be called ethical principles. (Free Management Library, 1997) The concept of Business Ethics means different things to different people, but generally it refers to being aware in an organization about what is the right or wrong step in the workplace and then doing the right thing. Ethics are all about making decisions that may or may not be to your benefit but you make them because they are the most socially acceptable solutions. In organizations, being ethical is not considered a good thing or is thought to have a negative effect. This is because the organizations are usually about doing what's best for becoming the top organization, this mean sometimes not doing the right thing. This is especially with regard to effects of products and services and with the relationship and organization has with its stakeholders. Giving importance to business ethics has become extremely critical during times of elemental change, this change in the way organizations work both profit and non-profit has come with the changing perceptions of people especially bu siness professionals. Values and beliefs that were previously ignored and taken lightly are now strongly questioned. Many of these values that are ethical and socially acceptable are no longer given attention; as a result, there is no clear moral mentor or employee to guide future leaders through difficult problems and about what is right or wrong. When people start working and behaving ethically, they become more sensitive to their colleagues and subordinates. The best example for this would be when the leader and his or her employee maintain a strong and moral attitude during a time of crises. (Brotherton, 2003) (Free Management Library, 1997) Being ethical in an organization can have negative effects on the profitability of the organization and this may be something that the stakeholder might be unhappy with but it is very important for both the stakeholder and the organization to understand that long term goals and objectives are more important and fruitful than short term goals and by being morally sound and sensitized organization you will win the long term trust of the customers therefore be beneficial to the stakeholders indirectly. (Free Management Library, 1997) Business ethics is now being considered a management discipline, especially after the social responsibility movement in the 1960s and policies like affirmative action policies that addressed society's most sensitive moral and ethical issue, discrimination against color, caste and race. In that era, social awareness movements increased the expectations of organizations especially multinational corporations to use their strong financial and social influence to throw light on some of the major social problems such as poverty, crime, environmental protection, equal rights, and public health and literacy programs. (Brotherton, 2003) A growing amount of population emphasized on that organizations were making a profit from using our country's resources, human capital and natural; these organization had the responsibility to improve society for the welfare of the country (Jaszay, 2001). Pizza Hut Case :: essays research papers
Pizza Hut Case Question 6: Pizza Hut case: Is either franchisor or franchisee liable for sexual harassment? If so, what type of sexual harassment occurred? Please fully explain your answer. In this case, the franchisee is liable for the hostile work environment sexual harassment type. However, the franchisor should not be held liable unless it can be proven that it has central control over the day-to-day employment decisions of the subsidiary. I will assume that the franchisee is independently owned and the franchisor has no control over its labor relations and no control over it financial. In cases such as this, a critical component in determining liability is which entity made the employment decision of the person making the claim. Factors that are considered in determining the existence of an illegal hostile work environment include: the conductââ¬â¢s frequency, the conductââ¬â¢s severity, any physical threat or humiliation (as opposed to merely offensive remarks), and the conductââ¬â¢s unreasonable interference with the employeeââ¬â¢s work performance. Situations that can be considered as hostile work environment sexual harassment is where the employeeââ¬â¢s work environment is made intimidating, hostile, or offensive due to unwelcome sexual conduct and that conduct unreasonably interferes with the employeeââ¬â¢s work performance. This case states that the waitress was harassed by the two male customers prior to the November 6th event and informed her manager that she did not like waiting on them, but did not explain why. Although she did not volunteer her reason why she did not want to wait on the customers, a responsible manager would have questioned the waitress to find out her reason. A responsible manager would also have assigned someone else to wait on the customers and/or request that the customers leave the premises. The physical nature of the conduct in this case, although limited to one incident, was severe enough to create an illegal hostile work environment. The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) issued regulations that state employers are responsible for the harassing conduct of non-employees and have a responsibility to prevent and take action when they know or should have known about the harassment. In this case, the waitress informed her manager that one of the customers had pulled her hair and requested that the manager find someone else to serve them. The manager denied her request and instructed her wait on them and stated ââ¬Å"You were hired to be a waitressâ⬠.

Effects of Globalization on the Micro Level
Globalization was generally derived from the assumptions of neo-classical economics. In order for a country to achieve economic development, it must open its economy to trade liberalization. Trade liberalization serves as a redistribution mechanism of capital and goods. Poor and developing countries can export unlimited volume of goods and services to developed countries. Added to that, the capital inflows from developed countries would serve as a stimulant for capital build-up in the recipient country (developing countries). Because developed countries usually experience labor shortages, labor immigrants from developing countries would serve as the compensating medium. Here economists assume that the ââ¬Å"incomeâ⬠derived from labor migration would then serve as capital outlay. While for many economists globalization is a positive force of development, certain practical issues were laid exposing the bad effects of globalization on the micro-level (individual and communal). There are generally two negative impacts of globalization on the micro-level. The first impact focuses on the condition of the labor force of developing countries (exposed to globalization). It is generally noted while globalization aims for wealth redistribution between developing and developed countries, inequality in terms of income and capital increased (Goldberg, R.K., and N. Pavcnik, 2006). Skilled workers from developing countries are paid less than unskilled workers from developed countries. In China, for example, after opening to globalization, several multi-national corporations (which are based in developed countries) transferred a significant portion of capital to the country. The reason can be derived from the cost of labor in the country. It is estimated that the cost of labor in China is one-eight (on the average) compared to labor cost in developed countries (Goldberg, R.K., and N. Pavcnik, 2006). Multi-national corporations found it rational to shift a significant portion of their capital to labor-rich China. The economic assumptions are clear. Labor surplus would drive the market to realign wages. The more workers, the less average labor price. The inverse relationship between the number of needed workers and labor price pushed these corporations to increase their capital inflow to China. Needless to say, because labor costs are below the market price of labor, these multi-national corporations can increase their profit level, generating new capital (to be transferred to the ââ¬Å"motherâ⬠country). Added to that, it was found out that after 10 years of exposure to trade liberalization, China experienced vast disparities in terms of income of its own citizens. Urban workers, on the average, have generally higher incomes than rural workers. Needless to say, these urban workers are generally better off than their rural counterparts. Thus, the vast disparity of income between developed and developing countries is mirrored out in the labor price of urban and rural workers. It can be said that the macro-level effect of globalization resulted to internal income disparities. This owes much to the economic rationalizing of multi-national corporations regarding the ââ¬Å"properâ⬠handling of labor costs. Exposure to longer working hours and poor working conditions are also major impacts of globalization in the workplace. These impacts severely decreased the labor productivity of developing countries. Stallings (2007, pp. 6-7) noted that in Latin America, the opening of several countries to trade liberalization and privatization led to capital build-up in the short-run. Foreign direct investment and other capital inflows contributed to economic growth as well as sustainability of the industrial sector. The labor sector though suffered. The expected level of employment growth as well as improvement in labor productivity in many sectors of several Latin American countries was not met. In fact, some industries like the garment and textile industries suffered from stagnation and high-costs of operations. Several governments were forced to implement longer working hours and tax incentives to several multi-national companies. The general effect: labor productivity decreased by half. Strikes became a common sight in the streets of major Latin American cities. Companies owned by local residents were forced to close as a result of the policy. Multi-national corporations though can easily shift their capital base to countries undeterred by political and economic debacles. We come now to the second general effect of globalization on the micro-level. Globalization requires that all national currencies be on a floating status. This would allow the efficient transfer of capital from developed countries to developing countries. As such, many economists assume that this policy would generally improve the overall economic standing of developing countries in terms of capital outlay and technology acquisition. This is though not the case. Akar (2007) noted that floating currencies would essentially alter the predictability of the market. Inflation, or in many cases stagflation, are usually the main economic problems in developing countries. Because developing countries only own a small percentage of the worldââ¬â¢s total monetary reserve, they can easily be affected by price changes in the world market (Kasapidis, R, 1999). Price changes can destroy the predictability of the markets of developing countries. Inflation can become highly unpredictable. Thus, this puts financial institutions on a very high-level of risk. This high risk can be translated to low-level investment schedule of firms. Nonetheless, the overall interest rate increases as a result of monetary downfalls. Increases in interest rate causes inflation and concomitantly, low economic output. On the individual level, as inflation progresses, the present volume of goods and service that can be bought by the value of money is less than the previous volume of goods and services bought. In a simple relationship, globalization requires that national currencies be on a floating status. For developing countries, putting its national currencies on a floating status increases the risks on financial institutions. These risks are translated to high inflation and low economic output. The end: the current purchasing power of a consumerââ¬â¢s income is devalued. Bibliography Akar, O. (2007). Globalization. Available from: [Accessed 24 October 2007]. Goldberg, P.K., & N. Pavcnik. University Undergraduate Admission Criteria Of China And...
University Undergraduate Admission Criteria in China and Canada Abstract: In China, university undergraduate admission criteria are standardized which from NCEE. For Canadian universities, they do not have any standardized content in the undergraduate admission system. The purpose of the research is to investigate how differences influence studentsââ¬â¢ personality, attitude and academic performance. Also, figure out how could administrators set the admission system properly in order to meet studentsââ¬â¢ all-around development. Introduction National College Entrance Examination (NCEE) is a standardized education testing system, which selects students to attend higher education in China. It was established by the Ministry of Education under theâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦The limited number of existing universities is exceeded by applications, causing competition. This competitiveness causes pressure on both students and parents. As a consequence, most of students in China prepare this examination at an early age (Davey Higgins, 2007). Compare with the standardized admission criteria in China, Canada seems to have more freedoms to choose the student they want. In Canada, most universities select students based on their high school marks and teachersââ¬â¢ recommendation. For instance, in university of Windsor for students coming from Ontario secondary schools all programs require a minimum admission average of 70%. This average may be higher, depending on the number of applicants. Vaccines have been around since Jenners success had spread throughout the world in the early 1800s. Jenner successfully created the small pox vaccine. When the word spread that there had been a successful small pox vaccine created, Massachusetts became the first state to persuade its residents to get the vaccine. Donââ¬â¢t waste time! Our writers will create an original "Vaccines In Modern Society" essay for you Create order After this vaccine had its success, creating vaccinations against deadly diseases became more common. When vaccinations became more common and states started enforcing them many people became upset and started the Anti-Vaxx movement. When the Anti-Vaxx movement was created parents started refusing to get their children vaccinated which ultimately lead to rare disease outbreaks. With the many outbreaks, I believe childhood vaccinations should be mandatory as they keep rare diseases at bay and protect those who are immunocompromised. Vaccinations not only protect your child, but they also protect loved ones, and other children. Vaccines work by developing your immunity against rare diseases by imitating an infection. After receiving a vaccination your body produces T-lymphocytes and antibodies against that virus. After the imitating infection has left your body, your body then remembers how to fight the disease you were vaccinated against. There two different types of vaccines, live vaccines and inactivated vaccines. Live vaccines contain a version of the living virus that has been weakened so that it does not cause serious disease in people with healthy immune systems (CDC, 2013). Inactivated vaccines are pathogens that have been destroyed so they are unable to replicate. Due to the vaccines being inactive they almost always require boosters in order for your body to develop immunity. Vaccines have many benefits that outweigh the risks. Since childhood vaccinations are such a highly controversial and debatable topic the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have listed some of the most important reasons for vaccinating your child. Reason one is they can save your childs life. Reason two is vaccines are safe and effective. Reason three vaccines protect others and the immunocompromised. Reason four they protect future generations. These four reasons the cdc has listed to get your child vaccinated are very important for you and your family to understand. Vaccines can save your childs life. When a child receives a vaccination, it builds their immunity against that virus. After receiving a vaccination, the body doesnt recognize the virus and their bodies begins creating antigens which ultimately builds their immunity. So, if your child is ever exposed to that virus their immune systems memory will remember how to fight that virus off without causing any harm. Vaccines are safe and effective. In order for a vaccine t o be used its thoroughly gets reviewed and tested by scientists and multiple professionals in the healthcare field. Vaccine development is a long, complex process, often lasting 10-15 years and involving a combination of public and private involvement (History of Vaccines, 2018). The vaccine testing and approval process consists of six different steps. Once those six steps are successfully completed then the U.S. Food and Drug Administration is responsible for regulating vaccines in the United States (cdc, 2015). Exploratory Stage Pre-Clinical Stage Clinical Development Regulatory review and approval Manufacturing Quality Control Vaccines protect others and the immunocompromised. Vaccines protect those who are too young to receive them due to infancy and protects those who are unable to be vaccinated due to medical reasons. Vaccines are among the most effective tools available for preventing infectious diseases and their complications and sequelae (Omer, Saad 2007). Due to individuals being too young or those who are unable to receive vaccines it is our job to vaccinate those who are eligible in order to keep rare diseases at bay. Keeping rare diseases at bay allows those individuals to live without the fear of contracting a potentially deadly virus. à Vaccinations will protect future generations from the diseases that we have today. Just like we are protected from small pox, measles, and polio. Smallpox vaccination eradicated that disease worldwide. Your children dont have to get smallpox shots anymore because the disease no longer exists anywhere in the world (cdc, 2017). With the increase in the anti-vaxx movement there has been an increase in measles cases. With having these sporadic measles outbreaks, overall it is not protecting the future generations. Even with the supporting evidence as to why and how vaccines protect us, there are still many people that are very skeptical about vaccines. Which many of these people choose to either delay or not vaccinate at all. When people started receiving the small pox vaccine that is when concern grew about vaccinations and not long after is when the anti-vaxx movement began. Today many individuals believe in the anti-vaxx movement. These people think completely opposite of those who believe in vaccinations. They believe that receiving vaccinations does more harm than good to their children. There are many reasons as to why people think vaccines are harmful, for example they believe that the ingredients in vaccines are dangerous, causes autism, and a violation of parental rights. Even though vaccines take years to make and get approved people believe that the ingredients that vaccines contain such as thimerosal, formaldehyde, neomycin, and aluminum are dangerous to the human body. These ingredients all have different purposes in creating a vaccine. Even though these ingredients themselves in large quantities are dangerous the tiny amount in a single vaccine does not cause any harm to the human body. Before vaccines are released to be used The Food and Drug Administration looks at the results of these tests to decide whether to license the vaccine for use in the United States (vaccines.gov, 2017). Another reason is people believe that the MMR shot causes autism. Dr. Andrew Wakefield published his infamous article in The Lancet linking autism with the MMR vaccine, causing a public outcry against all childhood vaccinations (McLeod, Corinne 2014). Years later we are still seeing the repercussion of this article. After years of people believing Wakefields study, research has shown that his study was wrong in many ways and ended up being removed in 2010. With the many studies done studies have shown that there is no link between receiving vaccines and developing ASD (cdc, 2015). The third reason is people believe that its a violation of parental rights. Many schools have strict school vaccine requirements. All states permitted medical exemptions from school immunization requirements, 48 states allowed religious exemptions, and 21 states allowed exemptions based on philosophical or personal beliefs (Omer, Saad 2007). With those being the three big reasons why people dont agree with vaccinations the vaccination rate is decreasing. The anti-vaxx movement is dangerous in many ways. With the vaccination rates decreasing there has been multiple recent rare disease outbreaks such as the measles virus. These outbreaks are among persons who refused vaccinations and are spread rapidly within the unvaccinated populations (Omar Saad, 2007). With more people choosing not to vaccinate this leads the potential to start seeing more rare diseases. With vaccinations being such a hot and controversial topic in the United States, there are two different views on them such as pro-vaccine and anti-vaccine. Those who believe in pro-vaccine believe that the benefits outweigh the risks and its doing more good for their child than harming them. People who are anti-vaccine believe that vaccines are doing more harm than protecting them since they have dangerous ingredients and side effects such as the MMR vaccine causing autism. I personally am pro-vaccine. I believe that the benefits of vaccines outweigh the risks tremendously. Our job as a whole is to educate the importance of vaccinations and how they protect us.

Essay about Photography - 731 Words
The Test of Time: The Power of the Photograph What is a photograph? The simplicity of taking a photograph leads many to ponder its artistic value. Yet, it is undeniable that there are some photos that cause an emotional reaction deeper than simply observing a recorded point in time. Surely, there are photographs that cause more reaction than some modern art pieces. There seems to be two types of photographs. The first classification is the ââ¬Ëtime captureââ¬â¢ photo ââ¬â an image with the sole purpose of recording a particular event or point in time. It is obvious that the photograph of this church on hallowed ground falls in the ââ¬Ëdeeper meaningââ¬â¢ category. The second Elliot Erwitt photo is taken from his official webpage. It too is captured in black and white. The photo, shown in Figure 2 was taken in France and depicts a man and child riding a bicycle down a road lined with trees. This seems to be a ââ¬Ëtime captureââ¬â¢ photo; this particular event can never be perfectly replicated again. Despite the category in which this photo clearly falls into, it is undoubtedly still art ââ¬â the setting is too perfect to be unintentional. However, according to Erwitt in h is interview, unintentional is exactly the correct word. Erwitt states, ââ¬Å"I take pictures of anything that interests me as I walk around with my camera.â⬠This means that many of his photos are taken on a whim; the right place at the right time. Scientific Management â⬠Taylorism Free Essays
ââ¬ËScientific Managementââ¬â¢ is a managerial development theory that was proposed by Frederick Winslow Taylor in the 1880s. It was designed to apply scientific methods to the management of work organisations in order to improve economic efficiency and labour productivity. This theory is also well known as ââ¬ËTaylorismââ¬â¢ and has had a significant impact in the history of organisational management. We will write a custom essay sample on Scientific Management ââ¬â Taylorism or any similar topic only for you Order Now Scientific management has had many benefits in the work organisation such as the division between workers and managers, increased efficiency in production and task specialisation. To some extent, this idea may still be relevant in some organisations but it is evident that the problems associated with this theory has led to the downfall of scientific management in todayââ¬â¢s service economy and furthermore has allowed for the introduction of improved managerial methods. The issues and disadvantages of scientific management will be further discussed and explained why it is no longer considered relevant in our modern day service economy. With the introduction of scientific management in the work organisation there has been a controversial debate over the changes that occur within the workplace. Do the disadvantages of scientific management theory outweigh the advantages? It is true that this method allows specific tasks to be assigned to specific workers according to their specialisation thus increasing efficiency in productivity as well as a ââ¬Å"regimented system of work organisation and managerial practiceâ⬠(Aguiar, 2002, p. 239). However these changes have had a detrimental effect on the welfare of the workers due to the investigation of introducing new management procedures. Stress levels and insecurity of the workers were said to have increased as a result of redundancies, layoffs and health and safety issues according to Aguiar (2002). There was also a change in work conditions that introduced the ââ¬Ëgender division of labourââ¬â¢ meaning that women were assigned with easier jobs whereas men were assigned with the more ââ¬Å"heavy-dutyâ⬠(Aguiar, 2002, p. 246) jobs. Due to these new management strategies, labour intensification had been increased ultimately leading to an increase in workload and even more changes in work conditions. As a result of gender division, it was evident that there was a significant difference in wages for women and men. Men typically received a higher wage than women which unquestionably became an issue as men were less likely to experience changes in their assigned jobs, whereas women were more susceptible to these changes. Furthermore, not only are womenââ¬â¢s wages lower than menââ¬â¢s, this often ends in a gender clash as it leads to women feeling unmotivated and not up to standard. Not only has scientific management created a negative gender division in work organisations, it has also created a less encouraging environment for workers. Although the principles of Taylorism have had a positive outcome on efficiency of production and productivity of workers, it has negatively impacted the workers as it has decreased job satisfaction thus increasing the repetitive nature of the workload. As workers are only required to specialise in one specific task, workers quickly become dissatisfied as the fundamental job requirements such as variety of skill, significance of tasks, independence and criticism are all missing. According to Gronroos (1994), it is due to the introduction of new technology in the work organisation that prevents workers from experiencing considerable job satisfaction. This also results in a poor relationship between workers and customers, as the value of customer satisfaction is neglected and therefore competitive advantages are not achieved. In some work environments there were ââ¬Å"additional target-related pressuresâ⬠(Bain et al. , 2002, p. 182) where workers refused to work overtime or simply insisted on taking breaks between shifts. In some cases there would be workers that would feel the need to conform and not give into pressure to take breaks thus increasing stress levels and decrease in job satisfaction. Lastly, there is also the issue of Taylorism being easily distorted to exploit workers in a way that they are being controlled and treated as machines rather than human beings. This introduces the idea that this method of management can be seen as dehumanising to the worker. Taylor fails to recognise the importance of the wellbeing of workers in their work environment and rather focuses entirely on gaining maximum efficiency, productivity and profits. This raises conflicts with labour unions as they strongly believe that humans are unlike machines and cannot operate as machines do. Since workers are assigned to their specific task and that task only, they are unable to develop further skills and use their imagination and creativity to complete certain tasks and this is due to a scientific approach in management. There are limited opportunities for workers to be able to express his or her creativity as ââ¬Å"each worker has a very well-determined taskâ⬠(Caldari, 2007, p. 73). Therefore the outcome of completing the required task will only result in maximum efficiency if they complete what they have been assigned to do but will be unable to develop mentally thus illustrating the concept of dehumanisation. Although the human mind is constantly capable of storing new information such as certain routines and actions, ââ¬Å"the human brain and flexible production systems must exhibit the ability to change, evolve and createâ⬠(Caldari, 2007, p. 74). Conclusively, it is evident that in some cases the scientific management approach is accepted by some work organisations. However, Taylorââ¬â¢s theory is flawed in a way that he has failed to account for the crucial factors relating to human welfare and focuses purely on maximisation in productivity, efficiency and profits. Although Taylorââ¬â¢s method was considered the machine model of organisation, and impacted management history in dramatic ways, his theory had also raised many controversial issues that must be considered prior to applying those theories in a predominant service economy. Scientific management may have had a positive impact in particular organisations but in todayââ¬â¢s society, this theory is no longer relevant in a predominantly service economy. Analysis of Human Migration free essay sample
An Analysis of Human Migration Ever since humans learnt to grow crops as a steady source of food humans have migrated In search of conditions better suited to their needs and comforts. Although all of us but the 30-40 million that choose to live the nomadic life have abandoned that lifestyle and moved on to a more civilized modern era, migration still remains an option for those of us seeking to take residence In an alternate region of mother earth. The National Geographic Society [1] defines human migration as The movement of people from one place in the world to another for the purpose of taking up ermanent or semipermanent residence, usually across a political boundary. Migration Inside a landmass or political region Is called Internet migration and outside a physical or political border Is called external migration. For example Inside moving inside the continent of Australia would be internal migration but moving into a different continent overseas would be external migration. These reasons can be categorized into two sections; these being push factors and pull factors. Push factors are reasons for leaving a region because of negative properties of the location and Pull factors are reasons for moving into a place because of positive properties of a location. Such factors can further be divided Into Environmental factors like climate, Political Factors Ilke war, Economic factors Ilke work, cultural factors Ilke education and utility factors like geographic location and socioeconomic status. Statistically speaking, the humans are extremely successful as a species. The 7 billionth human was born not long ago and the 10 billionth Is not far away, calculated to be born around the end of the century. The human race Is not only vast, we are also incredibly diverse and this is what defines us as a species. Meaning when we lost a part of our culture we lose a bit of what it means to be human. This brings us to one of the biggest drawbacks of migration, known as Cultural Extinction. Cultural extinction occurs when a family that Is part of a smaller culture migrates and the next generation of the respective family is only exposed to the native language and culture, since culture and tradition is only carried through families, the prospective bearer of this culture is burned out, ending a vein of this precious cultural blood. But our cultural diversity Itself poses a question. How Is It that we as a human race are so diverse in culture, and yet so similar? A research project named The Genographic project Was created by Spencer Wells for the purpose of answering this question and tracing human movement in prehistoric times. Even though the fields of palaeoanthropology and archaeology already enable us to access this Information, the Genographic project uses a newer method that allows us to find out how closely we are related to each other, enabling us to map out a family tree going back millions IOF4

Dynamic Facilitation A Critical Discussion
Table of Contents Introduction Theoretical Perspectives of Dynamic Facilitation Application of Dynamic Facilitation Conclusion Reference List Introduction Increased competition, shifting customer demands, technological advancements, shifts in government regulations and workforce demographics are some of the triggers of change that continue to provide the impetus for organizations to continually adopt change (Sitkin et al, 2011), but these change efforts may be ineffective, unsustainable or even elusive if the fundamental principles and the methodologies of change are not effectively grasped and actively applied (Rough, 1997).Advertising We will write a custom essay sample on Dynamic Facilitation: A Critical Discussion specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More It is with this realization that the present paper seeks to discuss one of the change methodologies referred to as Dynamic Facilitation, with a view to bringing into light its the oretical underpinnings and how the methodology could be applied in contemporary organizational contexts. Theoretical Perspectives of Dynamic Facilitation Developed in the decade of the 1990s by Jim Rough, Dynamic Facilitation as a change methodology has attracted considerable interest from researchers, practitioners and organizational change agents (Sitkin et al, 2011; Howard et al, 2005). Rough Martin (2007) describes Dynamic Facilitation as ââ¬Å"â⬠¦an emergent approach to facilitating that helps people address difficult issues creatively and collaboratively, where shifts and breakthroughs are the natural resultâ⬠(p. 224). Available literature demonstrates that Dynamic Facilitation revolves around bringing together people faced with a similar need and giving them the opportunity to chart the way forward by facilitating a process that will enable the participants to engage in deep, heartfelt and creative quality of thinking known in theoretical terms as ââ¬Å"choice cr eatingâ⬠(Rough Martin, 2007). In Dynamic Facilitation, the designated facilitator should not direct or control discussion among the participants; rather, he plays an active role in ensuring that all participants are allowed the chance to express their views in any form in addition to seeking forclarifications, encouraging opposing views, and ensuring that only one participant speaks at a time (Rough Martin, 2007; Howard et al, 2005). In theoretical terms, therefore, such an arrangement is intended to generate elevated trust, shared understandings, and the spirit of community in an attempt to come up with the best solution(s) to the arising need (Rough Martin, 2007). The major task of the designated facilitator is to attempt to record all the contributions made by participants using four charts, which are purposely labeled ââ¬Å"â⬠¦enquiries/problem statements, difficulties/concerns, information/perspectives, and options/ideasâ⬠(Howard et al, 2005, p. 3).Advertisi ng Looking for essay on business economics? Get your first paper with 15% OFF Learn More Using some sort of a jigsaw puzzle analogy, the participants in the group may jump around while discussing diverse sections of the bigger picture in a bid to come up with both short- and long-term solutions to the identified need. In recording the participantsââ¬â¢ contributions into the four charts, the designated facilitator should ensure that everyoneââ¬â¢s contributions are written down. The theoretical underpinning of this process of recording all contributions, according to Howard et al (2005) and Rough (1997), lies in the fact that participants are more likely to expand their focus and listen to the contributions of others in the process of forming the bigger picture if they are well aware that they are free to be fully heard, and that their own contributions are taken into consideration in the search for possible solutions to the present ing need. Consequently, Howard et al (2005) and Rough Martin (2007) note that Dynamic Facilitation encourage participants to be ââ¬Ëthemselvesââ¬â¢and to express freely or ââ¬Ëdumpââ¬â¢ the information on their mind to the group. Upon starting to comprehend the complexity of the scenario when considering manifold points of view they, on their own volition, begin to suggest possible solutions to the presenting need. Howard et al (2005) observes that such a self-organization environment, where all participants are allowed to participate without the facilitator attempting to push for any consensus, brings forth important breakthroughs, which are then recorded in the fifth chart. The facilitator should always ensure that the points of convergence brought forward by individual uniqueness and passion are identified as it is these convergences that form the backbone of the solutions to the presenting need. Indeed, Rough Martin (2007) note that ââ¬Å"â⬠¦individual uniquen ess and passion, normally seen as liabilities, are valued as assets in the groupâ⬠(p. 224). The theoretical underpinning of encouraging this uniqueness is based on the fact that the unique perspectives fronted by participants may well turn out to be the missing portion of the puzzle (Rough, 1997). However, it is always important to note that conclusions should always be unanimous (Rough Martin, 2007), and the consensus statements then communicated to all stakeholders for additional discussion and possible implementation (Howard et al. 2005). Application of Dynamic Facilitation Dynamic Facilitation as a change methodology can be applied in managing change process at a community college, where the decisions made not only affect the school management and students, but also the community at large. An example of a change process affecting the college would be to develop mechanisms aimed at fighting the rising incidences of insecurity within the schoolââ¬â¢s neighborhood.Adverti sing We will write a custom essay sample on Dynamic Facilitation: A Critical Discussion specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More In such a scenario, it is feasible to use this change methodology due to the fact that the processes triggering the change are largely unplanned, thus the need to employ the self-organizing concept to manage change which cannot be planned (Rough, 1997). It can also be argued that this methodology is feasible because it is very effective in dealing with complex situations, where there is no easy answer. Insecurity is one such scenario. A number of stakeholders would be involved in such a change initiative. In the context of therising insecurity problem, it is imperative to involve the college administration, teachers, students, parents and local church leaders, as well as government officials such as the police. Rough (1997) argues that it is these stakeholders who, individually and collectively, elicit creative quality of thinking through their contributions in the dialogue. It is this quality of thinking that is later used to come up with important breakthroughs. Consequently, it is of fundamental importance to include the right kind of stakeholders in the group for the discussions to become fruitful. It should be noted that while the dynamic facilitator acts to guide and direct the discussion among participants, the sponsor is involved in setting or sketching the outcomes as needed by the organization or community to deal with the presenting problem. To identify the sponsor, therefore, concerted efforts need to be made to identify someone who is well versed with the issues at hand, and who is well respected to command a significant degree of influence in the community (Sitkin et al, 2011). However, it is imperative to note that the influence of the sponsor should not be used to sway the contributions of participants in the group. The success of the change initiative should be measured b y how the members are able to attain convergences in discussing particular issues of interest. It should be noted that it is the convergent points of view that contribute to the achievement of the consensus statements, which are then used to come up with breakthroughs to the issues at hand (Howard et al, 2005; Rough Martin, 2007). Lack of convergent points of view among participants therefore implies lack of progress. Lastly, the organization, which is the community college in this case, is expected to gain from reduced cases of insecurity and student complaints in the short-term, but will gain more in terms of positive public image and enhanced student enrollment levels in the long-term.Advertising Looking for essay on business economics? Let's see if we can help you! Get your first paper with 15% OFF Learn More Conclusion This paper has effectively demonstrated how Dynamic Facilitation can be used as a methodology to manage a seemingly impossible and unplanned change process. The discussion has particularly shed light on how change can be viewed as self-organizing, and how important breakthroughs can be achieved by getting people to freely discuss the presenting problem and by getting them to listen to the contribution of others (Howard et al, 2005). Certainly, it can only be concluded that Dynamic Facilitation represents an increasingly growing paradigm of change management methodologies, particularly at the community level. 13 Interactive Content Examples That Will Engage Your Audience
13 Interactive Content Examples That Will Engage Your Audience Everyone wants to get ahead of the marketing game. Itââ¬â¢s understandable - you want to beat the competition, attract more attention, and sell more products or services. Interactive content can help you achieve those goals. While interactive content has been around for some time, itââ¬â¢s only recently begun to gain serious traction among marketers. In a world that used to revolve around static copy, interactive elements seem a little intimidating. However, itââ¬â¢s important to get over your butterflies if you want to supercharge your marketing strategy. 13 Interactive Content Examples That Will Engage Your Audience by @MikeKamo of @TheHelloBar What is Interactive Content Marketing? Interactive content marketing involves using content to engage your audience based on their participation. Itââ¬â¢s kind of like a conversation, but one in which you donââ¬â¢t have to actively participate. A simple example of interactive marketing is insurance companies that offer free, instant quotes. You visit the site, fill in some information, and go to the next stage in the process. At the end, you can have your quote emailed or texted to you. Does Interactive Content Perform Better Than Regular Content? Did you know that 90 percent of consumers reportà that they want more visual and interactive content? Thatââ¬â¢s huge. Interactive content works better than regular content because itââ¬â¢s more engaging. It encourages consumers to compete, compare, test themselves, consume information faster, and achieve results quicker. It can also be highly immersive. Interactive video, for instance, bridges the gap between normal video and artificial intelligence to create a unique user experience. Why Interactive Content Is Considered the Future of Content Marketing: Interactive Content Statistics Several marketers and strategists have declared interactive marketing the future of content. Thatââ¬â¢s largely because it works. Take quizzes, for example. You can find them on Facebook, websites, and other social channels, and theyââ¬â¢re arguably among the most popular content on the web. Did you know that 96 percent of consumers who start BuzzFeed contests actually finish them? You can bet that 96 percent of your website visitors donââ¬â¢t finish every piece of written content on your site. BuzzFeedà contests are often silly, highly specific, or even a little controversial, but that doesnââ¬â¢t matter. People love interacting with this type of content. In fact, one of those quizzes got more than 22 million views. How can you create a quiz that gets more than 22 million views? What Are the Forces That Make Interactive Content Such Powerful Lead Magnets? There are several reasons interactive content draws attention from consumers. Here are a few of the most important. More Appealing: Attract and Educate People Who Might Become Future Buyers Interactivity gives consumers a reason to stay on the page. It provides something different and unique while still bringing people into your sales funnel. Just because something is fun doesnââ¬â¢t mean it canââ¬â¢t be educational, too. Think about 360 video tours of destinations for future travelers or quizzes that test your knowledge on a specific subject. Just because something is fun doesnââ¬â¢t mean it canââ¬â¢t be educational, too.Social Media: Encourage People to Engage and Share Content With Friends Many interactive content experiences go viral on social media. Instead of directing followers to your typical blog posts, invite them to experience something new and original. Since most social platforms prove highly visual, itââ¬â¢s easier to attract attention when you post a screenshot or photo depicting interactivity. Use the copy to explain how theyââ¬â¢ll benefit from the experience. It doesnââ¬â¢t have to be overly promotional. For instance, Orbitz ran an interactive quiz on its website so people could determine how worthy their travel partners were. This type of content is easy to share on social because itââ¬â¢s already visual. Recommended Reading: How to Boost Engagement on Social Media With Visual Content Increase Brand Exposure and Loyalty: With More Social Shares Comes More Brand Exposure and Loyalty Word of mouth remains one of the most powerful assets for any marketer. If people are talking about your business, you have an advantage in the industry. Interactive content increases your chances of going viral - or at least getting more exposure. And if you deliver a satisfying, enjoyable, entertaining, or educational experience, youââ¬â¢ll win viewersââ¬â¢ loyalty. More Website Traffic and Page Views: Enhance the Websiteââ¬â¢s Overall User Experience (UX) People revisit sites they like. If youââ¬â¢re consistently providing an awesome user experience, or UX, you can expect people to bookmark you and return to view future content. All of those views will help your content rank better organically in the search engines, which leads to even more page views. Plus, youââ¬â¢ll enjoy social shares and other forms of word of mouth that help businesses grow quickly. Human Nature: Humans Love to Interact Competitiveness is built into most of our DNA. We want to show that weââ¬â¢re better than everyone else - or, at least, the majority. Thatââ¬â¢s why gamification has become such an integral part of interactive content. If youââ¬â¢re always reaching for the next level, gaining more points, or otherwise proving your prowess, the business benefits. For instance, hubEngage, an employee engagement platform, uses gamification to help improve employee involvement. Thereââ¬â¢s a public leaderboard so employees can compete as well as rewards tied to quizzes and prizes. Competitive Advantage: It is Different, So It Will Cut Through All The Other "Noise" Thereââ¬â¢s a ton of content out there. Getting ranked organically on Google is more difficult than ever, and consumers have become almost blind to standard content. Unless theyââ¬â¢re looking for something in particular, theyââ¬â¢re not interested in your article or video. Interactive content provides something completely different from the norm. Your competitors probably arenââ¬â¢t doing it, so you get the advantage. Your audience will appreciate your desire to deliver a better UX, and youââ¬â¢ll stand out from the crowd. Interactive content provides something completely different from the norm.Interactive Content Provides Better Data to Optimize Your Buyer Persona and Your Sales Funnel Believe it or not, interactive content can prove remarkably effective at every stage of the sales funnel. As your consumers move closer to a purchase, you can continue to engage them with high-quality, interactive content. While UX is undeniably important, you also want to collect data. The better you know your target audience, the better you can serve them. Surveys, polls, and either-or quiz responses are the best ways to collect data about your audience. You can now host an Instagram Liveà with an ongoing poll, which is a great way to combine two interactive types of content. Surveys, polls, and either-or quiz responses are the best ways to collect data about your audience.Awareness Stage: Top of Funnel At the top of the funnel, consumers donââ¬â¢t know much about you. Thatââ¬â¢s a good reason to give them a fantastic first impression. Show them you care about what they think. At the same time, collect data about their needs, desires, pain points, struggles, and goals. For instance, an interactive quizà incentivizes the user to participate, especially if youââ¬â¢re creative with your copy, and you get access to the answers. Based on the data you collect, youââ¬â¢ll know what type of content to deliver later on the sales funnel. Cloud Sherpasà did this beautifully with an assessment geared directly at its target audience. You can also use this strategy as a lead generation tool. Over at NutritionSecrets.com, which was sold to another company several years ago, we discovered that we could collect more leads by asking our visitors to answer simple questions. Instead of immediately springing our lead magnet on them, we warmed them up - and collected data at the same time. We first asked them to identify as male or female. Then we asked about their nutrition goals. These sound like simple questions, but they provided us with tons of data. Plus, we increased our leads from 10 per day to 50 per day. Best of all, it was as simple as creating a Hello Barà exit popup and using LeadQuizzes to create the quiz. In just a few minutes, you can create an interactive quiz that improves brand recognition, generates leads, and engages your audience. Recommended Reading: How to Map Content to the Marketing Funnel and Boost Conversions By 69.77% Evaluation Phase: Mid Funnel In the middle of the funnel, consumers are considering their options. Youââ¬â¢re on their radar, but so are your competitors. Interactive content can give you an advantage by keeping visitors coming back for more and by helping them make their decision. A benchmark assessment, for instance, allows your visitors to take a quiz or test to find out what they need, what product suits them best, or where they are in their journey. Not only is it fun, but it provides you with even more data. The Womenââ¬â¢s Health Networkà has a beautiful quiz marketed as a weight loss assessment tool. People who take it get a free 10-minute call with a professional. Decision Stage: Bottom of Funnel Your target customer is finally ready to buy. What now? Consider deploying an interactive tool that helps the consumer determine what other products or services might meet his or her needs. You could create an interactive map, guide, infographic, or 360 video, as well. The possibilities are endless. College campuses often offer 360-degree campus tours. Theyââ¬â¢re highly immersive. If the experience isnââ¬â¢t fun, people will turn away. For instance, if youââ¬â¢re creating a quiz, add humor and personality to the questions. For a webinar, choose the most extroverted person on your team to host it. Donââ¬â¢t just throw something together. Work with a professional to make the interactive content unusual as well as aesthetically impressive. Survey your competition and make sure your interactive content is different from theirs. Step 3. Marketing Stage Promote your interactive content widely.
